Lights off

Good Night Vancouver,
And my mind as a cinemascope flying above the city
Turns the lights off in Granville Street
And imagines it all quiet, stopped in time.
Takes a picture of Commercial Drive,
And its people walking up home after a cozy dinner, after the yoga class.

Good Night Vancouver,
Sky Trains crossing fast through rain and fog
Good Night Canucks,
3 bridges over water, over thousands of stories
It’s time to build my own bridge through my  land.

Farewell parties on Davie Street, mass at St. John’s
Shops in Main St., Sundays in English Bay,
Snow in the alley, Rain in our hearts.

Say goodbye to the boats over the False Creek,
Might someday will sail close to my eyes again,
Good bye to the merchants in Granville Island
It’s night but you are waking up.
Thank you friends and lovers,
Thank you green and blue.
